Career

It is paradoxical that one can only really define one’s career after you have experienced it.  You set out with a qualification and plan believing that you have a full tool box but as time passes success and failure refine expectation and pose continuous challenge.  In time you come to realise that it is who you are that defines your career with your acquired skills being an extension of this character.

Interests

Having interests outside of a job is an important part of a balanced portfolio.  Family, personal and community endeavour provide different environments and dynamics to build your full potential.  For a structured career such as engineering it is particularly beneficial to develop creative pursuits to promote creative thinking in your day job.

From an early age I have always had an interest in technology and active pursuits.  Traditional team based sporting activities in my early years were overtaken by more individual interests like hang gliding, scuba diving and fishing.  My one passion has been photography.  Capturing those fleeting images means endless hours of watching and waiting for the right light or subject helps with patience, planning and satisfaction.
